Professor Simon Lewis is a cognitive neurologist at Macquarie University, studying Parkinson’s disease and dementia. With over 300 publications, his work is funded by major organizations, including the NHMRC and Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Vice-Chair

Alice Nieuwboer

Dr. Alice Nieuwboer is Professor Emeritus at KU Leuven, specializing in gait and motor control in Parkinson’s disease. Her team has advanced rehabilitation strategies like cueing and AI-based tools for freezing of gait detection.

Secretary/Treasurer

Stewart Factor

Dr. Stewart Factor is a Professor of Neurology and Director of the Movement Disorders Program at Emory University. His research focuses on biomarkers in Parkinson’s disease, freezing of gait, tardive dyskinesia, and clinical trials, with extensive contributions to movement disorder literature.

At-Large Members (8-year term)

Kaylena Ehgoetz-Martens

Dr. Kaylena Ehgoetz Martens is a cognitive neuroscientist whose research explores the influence of anxiety on movement in Parkinson’s disease. Her award-winning work integrates wearable technology and neuroscience to understand and improve motor impairments.

J. Lucas McKay

Dr. J. Lucas McKay is an Associate Professor at Emory University and co-director of the Motion Analysis Lab. His research uses machine learning to study kinematic data from patients with Parkinson’s disease, advancing diagnostics and treatments.

At-Large Members (4-year term)

Jeffrey Hausdorff

Professor Jeffrey M. Hausdorff directs the Movement, Cognition, and Mobility Center at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. He is a leading researcher in gait variability, cognitive function, and falls in aging and neurodegeneration.

Monika Pötter-Nerger

Dr. Monika Pötter-Nerger leads the Movement Disorders Section at University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf. Her research focuses on freezing of gait and its pathophysiology, using advanced electrophysiological methods.
